How often is recycling collected in Sandstone Point?
Moreton Bay collects recycling fortnightly, alternating with the garden organics bin. Collection days vary by street, and an address search shows which fortnight you are in right now.
Do I get money back for drink containers?
Yes. Containers for Change refunds 10 cents per eligible drink container in QLD, at depots, return machines and bag drop points. Containers you redeem are extra money in your pocket; eligible containers you skip still go in the recycling bin.
Are the bins different if I rent in Sandstone Point?
No, bins attach to the property, not the resident, so renters use whatever Moreton Bay supplies to the address. If bins are missing or broken at a new rental, report it to the council or your property manager; replacement is usually free and does not need the owner.

Quick tips for bin night
- Holiday weeks shuffle the schedule. Long weekends can quietly push Moreton Bay collections back a day. Check before a public holiday so you are not chasing the truck down the street.
- Wishful recycling is not recycling. Putting something in the yellow bin and hoping for the best is contamination, and Moreton Bay tags bins for it. When in doubt, it is general waste.
- Empty it before you bin it. A half full bottle leaks through the paper and cardboard sharing its bin. Drain liquids first and the whole load stays cleaner.
